Free Beginner and Level 1 Sheet Music – I Know That My Redeemer Lives

We love our Lutheran Service Book and My First Hymnal to learn hymns as a family!  The kids enjoy learning music at home that they’ll be singing in church, helping them to feel more a part of the worship service.

Our oldest daughter enjoys playing the melody line provided, but as she grew older she also wanted to add in harmony.  As we looked for resources for beginning arrangements of some of our favorite traditional hymns, we were disappointed to find that most of the arrangements were either written for more advanced pianists or were expensive to purchase.

Our 9 year old daughter and I decided to remedy that by working together to arrange hymns into a form beginning and Level 1 pianists could play.

Our in-house expert in action.

We’ve been doing this for a couple of years now and have decided to start sharing them with you for free!  We will post one or two new hymns (all in the public domain) each season of the Church Year.  Our hope is that more beginning and Level 1 & 2 pianists will be able to enjoy learning to play the tunes they hear in church and be able to share their musical abilities with their families and congregations!

Thank you to Sophia Squire, our in-house Level 1 pianist, for assisting in these arrangements.  Thank you also to Alex Heetland for providing his expert advice!

We hope you enjoy our version of “I Know That My Redeemer Lives”!

I Know That My Redeemer Lives – Beginner

The beginner arrangement is in middle C position.  While it does have a sharp as an accidental, we have found that pianists who have not be introduced to sharps yet are able to grasp the concept fairly easily when introduced with a simple explanation of sharps and a finger number!

I Know That My Redeemer Lives – Level 1 Advanced

The Level 1 piece starts in C position.  We have added finger number suggestions when deviating from the typical C position.  While this song has a bit more movement in the right hand than most Level 1 pieces, our Level 1 pianist found she was able to master the melody after just a bit more practice than usual (which is why we labeled it Level 1 – Advanced).
