Looking for a New Year resolution that involves the entire family, faith, and a closer relationship with Christ through prayer?
Check out the Knowledge of Him Prayer Board and “I Prayed for You Today” Postcards – new, free, printable resources! Great for use as a family or in the classroom!
The Prayer Board is designed to encourage family or group prayer on a daily basis.
My family uses our prayer board to keep track of what and who we’re praying for by having a different topic for each day. Each day of the week has a separate envelope with a prayer prompt on the front. We write down prayer requests on our “Pray For” slips of paper and stick them in the corresponding envelope. When we sit down for family prayers, each member of the family grabs a “Pray For”slip from the day we’re on, and we take turns praying for what’s on our sheet of paper, writing updates as they come along. The Prayer Board keeps prayers fresh in our hearts and minds without being overwhelming!
Set up your Prayer Board as a family or group for a fun activity together!
First, print off our Prayer Board packet (click here or on the links below), and grab some empty envelopes. I used a few of the cheery yellow ones that came with my beautiful Dear 52 Stationary Set! Then, grab a bulletin board (or tape on a wall) and put it where you normally gather to pray. Alternatively, you can use a binder or folder – whatever fits your family or group! Even young children can help color the pages, and older kids can cut out the images and paste, tape, or pin them where they belong. Use this opportunity to talk with your children about the importance of prayer.
Once your Prayer Board is set up, get praying! 🙂 Let people know you’re praying for them by sending them a postcard with a note on the back. Our free “I Prayed for You Today” Postcards (available at the end of this post) are printable and come in both adult and child versions. Connect with Christ and the people in your life through prayer!
This printable Prayer Board packet includes all you need to get started!
- 2 Pages of Prayers: Luther’s Morning and Evening Prayers and the Lord’s Prayer. Each prayer can be cut out and colored to customize your family or classroom board.
- 2 Daily Prayer Pages: One sheet includes prompts for what to pray for that day. The other sheet just includes the day name and lets you decide and write-in what you’d like to include as your prayer topic each day. Cut these out and paste to the back of empty envelopes as shown in the photo above. These will provide a space for the “Pray For” inserts.
- “Pray For” Inserts: Cut on the lines to get slips of paper to write down your prayer requests and stick in the appropriate daily envelope. There is enough space on each slip of paper to write updates as they occur!

Don’t forget your “I Prayed for You Today” Postcards to connect with family and friends!
“I Prayed for You Today” Postcards are available in two documents. Each version (child and adult) is set up to print double-sided, with an image on the front and the postcard portion on the back. Make sure to double check your printer settings to ensure the postcards print out correctly in duplex – manual feeding is necessary with some printers for duplex printing in landscape format. Print on cardstock and send these postcards to let people know you’re praying for them! Click here for the child version, here for the adult version, or on the images below to download.
If you’re looking to dig deeper into the Word as well as prayer, check out our Weekly Verse Page.
Each week, a talented lady designs an image to go with a verse from the Sunday readings for the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod, Three-Year Series. Print off the verse each week and add it to your Prayer Board so you can work on memorizing it together as a family or class. Subscribe to this website by entering your e-mail address in the space on the top right of the page, and you’ll receive the image and suggested readings at the beginning of each week!

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
